Rhys Meirion & Pedair: Spirit of the Mimosa Tour

The Rhys Meirion and Pedair: Spirit of the Mimosa Tour to Patagonia is a unique and deeply emotional musical journey that connects Wales and Patagonia through song, history, and culture. Led by acclaimed Welsh tenor Rhys Meirion and the celebrated vocal group Pedair, this tour retraces the steps of the Welsh settlers who arrived on the Mimosa in 1865, carrying their dreams of a new homeland to the distant lands of Argentina. Through a series of performances in key locations across Y Wladfa, the tour brings traditional Welsh folk music, contemporary choral arrangements, and heartfelt storytelling to the communities that continue to keep the Welsh language and culture alive in Patagonia today.

Traveling through historic settlements such as Trelew, Gaiman, Trevelin, and Porth Madryn, the tour celebrates the resilience and cultural identity of the Welsh-Patagonian people. Concerts will be held in iconic chapels, community halls, and cultural centers, where audiences are invited to experience the unique fusion of Welsh and Patagonian heritage. As a special addition to the tour, a one-off event will take place in Buenos Aires, offering an opportunity to share this powerful musical experience with the wider Argentine-Welsh community and international audiences.

Celebrating Patagonia 160 On July 28th, 1865, the Welsh settlers arrived in Patagonia aboard the Mimosa, establishing ‘Y Wladfa’ (Welsh Patagonia). As we reflect on this historic milestone, our tours in 2025/26 will continue to celebrate the 160th anniversary of the landing  honoring this unique heritage and supporting the Welsh language and culture in the region.
